Aix-En-Provence Free Walking Tour
Aix-En-Provence Free Walking Tour
At 11 am, we'll meet up in the Place de la Rotonde in the heart of Aix-en-Provence. From here, we'll set off on a guided tour of the centre of one of the most beautiful cities in Provence. To begin, we'll learn about the area surrounding us and the incredible Rotonde Fountain.
Our first stop will be Cours Mirabeau, a square filled with fountains and 19th century mansions where we'll find the Café Les Deux Garçons, a popular meeting place of the 18th century bourgeoise. We'll then continue onwards to visit the Church of St John of Malta, famous during the Crusades, and the Fountain of the Four Dolphins.
Afterwards, we'll stop to discover the ancient ruins of the Roman city of Aquae Sextiae and La Place des Prêcheurs, the centre of city life in Medieval Aix-en-Provence.
As we explore the beautiful streets on our free walking tour, our guide will tell us all about its history, including what happened in the city during World War II. We'll make a stop to admire the 17th century City Hall before ending the tour in front of the impressive Aix Cathedral at around 6 pm.
